È un'applicazione WebRTC JavaScript open source e può essere utilizzata per le videoconferenze. Si possono condividere desktop e presentazioni e con un semplice collegamento si possono invitare nuovi membri per la videoconferenza. Può essere utilizzato scaricando l'app o direttamente in un browser ed è compatibile con qualsiasi browser recente. Ogni utente può utilizzare i server Jitsi.org o scaricare e installare il software del server su una macchina basata su Linux. La prima caratteristica fondamentale di Jitsi Meet è la comunicazione crittografata (comunicazione sicura): ad aprile 2020, le chiamate 1-1 utilizzano la modalità P2P, che è crittografata end-to-end tramite DTLS-SRTP tra i due partecipanti. Anche le chiamate di gruppo utilizzano la crittografia DTLS-SRTP, ma si basano su Jitsi Videobridge (JVB) come router video, dove i pacchetti vengono decrittografati temporaneamente. Il team di Jitsi sottolinea che "non vengono mai archiviati in alcun archivio persistente e vivono solo nella memoria mentre vengono instradati ad altri partecipanti alla riunione" e che questa misura è necessaria a causa delle attuali limitazioni della tecnologia WebRTC sottostante. La seconda caratteristica fondamentale di Jitsi Meet è che non è necessaria l'installazione di un nuovo software client.

They link to their pages on trade-based networks (facebook, linkedin, twitter), to trade-based collaborative software (slack) and to trade-based app stores (Google Play and App Store from Apple) because they have an app for phones. uBlock origin also blocked “amplitude.com” which is a “Product Intelligence platform helping companies build better products”. These things are not that bad, but I want to mention them, because else it’s a great service! You don’t need an account or pay money or so. You can just use it directly in the browser. Do they collect data? Yes, but not to make a business out of that: “8×8 is not in the business of selling personal information to third parties. 8×8 uses this information to deliver the meet.jit.si service, to identify and troubleshoot problems with the meet.jit.si service, and to improve the meet.jit.si service. In addition, 8×8 may use this information to investigate fraud or abuse.” (https://jitsi.org/meet-jit-si-privacy/) So I’d give them 4/5 blocks.
